Eat More Fruits and Be More Active with Mr. Fruitness
Who is Mr. Fruitness? He is the mascot of the “Fruitness, Enjoy It” project which is the campaign to get children as well as parents to eat more fruit. The project was organised by the European Union, CSO (Centro Servizi Ortofrutticoli) and Italian Government. It was first established in 2006 and was set to last for three years until 2009. Because the responses are so great and the project achieved remarkable accomplishments, they arranged a fund of €3.5 million for the project to run for another three years until 2012. Mr. Fruitness is said to be a man wearing a green superhero costume and gets his power by consuming fruit whilst fighting junk food and obesity.
The aspect of fighting obesity is intended to influence the increasing number of overweight children and adolescents in 5 different European countries, which are Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, Sweden and Poland. This project is very positive both for the children and the parents. A great website is launched to support the campaign, http://www.fruitness.eu. The website contains a huge amount of useful information about eating fruit and the benefits. It is a great way to encourage children and parents alike to take part in the campaign by increasing their daily fruit consumption and to be more active.
Fruit is good for our body, especially for the children who are in the period of growth. Fruit will bring benefits to keep their immune system in great condition so that they can do whatever they want to do. Join the campaign and have fun with your children by exploring the websites. Eat more fruit and be more active with Mr. Fruitness!
